The camera has always been a set of decisions pretending to be an accident. Angle, lens, movement, the height of the eye. I make those decisions on purpose, in words, and the film assembles itself from them. I do not shoot. I compose, sequence, and withhold. And when it works, you forget there was ever a machine in the room, which is the only trick I have ever cared about.
