About
I’m Ilgaz Kuren, a multidisciplinary artist, filmmaker, actor, writer, painter, and creative community builder based in San Francisco. Born in Turkey and shaped by life in Istanbul, Paris, Berlin, New York, and California, I carry different cultures, languages, and ways of seeing the world into everything I create. I studied film and philosophy at Sorbonne Nouvelle in Paris and trained in acting, filmmaking, and performance across Europe and the United States. My professional journey has taken me through television production, acting, screenwriting, visual art, event curation, and independent creative entrepreneurship. I have worked both behind and in front of the camera, including as an assistant director on the Turkish television series İçerde and as an actor in Avlu, internationally released as The Yard. My work is influenced by science fiction, philosophy, psychology, spirituality, electronic music, and emerging technology. I am especially interested in consciousness, artificial intelligence, freedom, identity, love, power, and the ways people search for meaning in an increasingly technological world. Through film and writing, I create stories that imagine possible futures while questioning the systems, beliefs, and emotional patterns shaping our present. I am the founder of the Dasein AI Film Festival and Dasein Creative Circle, platforms created to bring filmmakers, artists, technologists, thinkers, and audiences together. My goal is to build spaces where experimental ideas can be shared, new forms of cinema can emerge, and meaningful conversations can continue beyond the screen. Alongside filmmaking, I paint, design wearable art, write scripts, organize creative gatherings, and develop projects that connect art with community. Whether I am creating a film, a painting, an event, or a conversation, I am always searching for the same thing: a more honest, imaginative, and deeply human way of understanding ourselves and the future we are creating together.
