About
Marcos Horacio Azevedo is a Brazilian-American documentary filmmaker, producer, editor, and creative director whose work explores the intersection of personal stories and major historical events. With more than two decades of experience in nonfiction storytelling, he is drawn to subjects that reveal the human drama behind larger political, social, and cultural forces. His documentary credits include the Discovery+ series Unprecedented, which chronicled the final months of Donald Trump’s presidency and the aftermath of the 2020 election. As producer and editor, he helped shape a project whose extraordinary access to the Trump family and senior White House figures attracted international attention and later became part of the January 6 Congressional investigation. His work also includes The Myth of Garrincha for ESPN Films, which he pitched, researched, wrote, directed, and edited, as well as Dream Chasers, a documentary series following young soccer players pursuing professional careers in Europe. Azevedo is also the founder of Tatuí Filmes, Brazil’s first dedicated trailer house, where he led the creation of more than 200 campaigns for clients including Netflix, Disney, Warner Bros., Sony, Paramount, ESPN, and Globo. In recent years, he has focused on the role of artificial intelligence in documentary storytelling and post-production. He explores how AI can support research, archival discovery, visualization, and editorial workflows while preserving the essential role of human judgment and creative responsibility. He has also developed custom AI-assisted editorial tools that help accelerate research, organize complex information, and support creative decision-making throughout the filmmaking process.
